Tara Williams

Tara Williams practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property litigation and transaction counseling. In a litigation context, Tara has a depth of experience handling patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and trade secret litigation as well as general (breach of contract, products liability and labor and employment) litigation matters in federal district and state court proceedings throughout the country. She is also particularly skilled at helping clients develop and implement settlement agreements that preserve their businesses’ best interests.

Recognizing that every client is unique, Tara develops and implements a tailored intellectual property and litigation strategy for each client’s particular needs. In dispute matters, she is skilled at helping clients identify the specific case strategy that will be most useful for them while taking into account applicable budgetary constraints. Tara excels at handling a broad spectrum of industries and technologies: including, consumer electronics (mobile phones, digital televisions, computers, printers, routers), medical devices, chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, automotive, consumer products, trailer suspension systems, semiconductors, marine electronics, telecommunications (cellular communication systems, WiFi), and software (medical systems, banking, retail, targeted advertising, sales lead generation, data aggregation)..

In addition to handling the day-to-day management of multi-million-dollar litigation matters, Tara excels at helping clients maximize their interests at all stages of the litigation process, including settlement agreements, which require her to have a comprehensive understanding of her clients’ businesses and their long-term goals.

Tara also assists clients with the development and licensing of intellectual property, in connection with which she frequently drafts licensing agreements, collaborative development agreements, software licensing agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other technology-related agreements. In all aspects of client advising, Tara draws upon her extensive experience with complex litigation, including federal jury trials and appeals. Beyond her litigation and licensing work, Tara also supports clients in developing comprehensive strategies to protect their intellectual property. Her work in this realm includes managing all aspects of patent prosecution, including conducting and reviewing patentability searches, preparing patent applications, office actions, and other submissions in both the United States and internationally for various industries, technology and art areas, including, oil and gas, electronics, mechanical, consumer products, computer, and software related business methods.
