Liangyin’s practice focuses on patent prosecution for mechanical processes and devices. Lia helps clients protect and enforce their intellectual property portfolios and implement comprehensive protection strategies. Lia’s practice includes supporting clients through all aspects of the patent prosecution process from working with inventors and in-house experts to understand and draft an initial patent application and conducting patentability searches to helping clients develop global strategies aimed at maximizing protection for their products. In her day-to-day practice, Lia prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications, drafts licensing agreements, and prepares patent validity, patentability, and freedom-to-operate opinions.
While in law school, Lia worked with a commercial litigation firm, the Colorado Office of the Child’s Representative. Lia earned her law degree at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she was active with the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Lia holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Criminology and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California-Irvine. She is also a native Chinese speaker. Outside the office, Lia enjoys playing piano and Guzheng, as well as drawing, cars, and bikes.
