Sheridan Ross Names Four New Shareholders

Sheridan Ross is excited to announce it has named four new shareholders to the practice.  Brian Boerman, John Damron, Bryan Hall, and Jon Horneber were all voted as shareholders starting January 2025. The four attorneys join 16 others who are shareholders in the firm. Boerman is an attorney with the firm’s litigation group. He has more than a decade of experience handling all aspects of intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. Hall and Horneber practice with the firm’s mechanical engineering practice group, where they help clients create and develop protection strategies for a range of advanced technologies. Damron is joining the firm’s electrical engineering shareholders, where he partners with a variety of clients on a wide range of computer, software, and artificial intelligence technologies.

Brian Boerman’s practice focuses on protecting all aspects of his clients’ intellectual assets from patent drafting and prosecution to enforcement and litigation. Brian regularly represents clients in intellectual property disputes in federal court, and he has experience at all stages of the litigation process from due diligence through trial. Brian has extensive experience with post-grant proceedings. He also handles patent prosecution predominately within the electrical engineering and software fields.

Throughout his tenure at Sheridan Ross, John Damron has been instrumental in managing complex, global patent portfolios, ensuring that clients’ intellectual property rights are thoroughly protected and strategically aligned with their business objectives. John’s technical expertise is rooted in his background in electrical engineering and computer science, enabling him to adeptly handle complex patent matters in these fields. His practice encompasses patent drafting, prosecution, and maintenance, including patentability analyses, prior art searches, preparation and filing of provisional and non-provisional patent applications, assignments, patent appeals, inventorship and ownership issues, and robust patent portfolio development.

Bryan Hall’s practice focuses on patent prosecution as well as transactional matters and enforcement of patents through litigation. Bryan advises clients in all areas of patent prosecution ranging from patent applications to freedom-to-operate opinions. In addition, he advises clients regarding intellectual property issues and risks to advance the strategic goals of individuals, businesses, and other organizations. When conflict arises, Bryan has experience in determining causes of action and drafting demand letters, complaints, and settlement agreements in support of patent litigation.

Jon Horneber’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications across a range of technologies. Jon’s background in mechanical engineering includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Colorado. In combination with his years of patent practice, he can deftly counsel clients in industries ranging from aerospace to automotive, semiconductor manufacturing to medical devices, and numerous other mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical technologies. His experience includes drafting and prosecuting hundreds of domestic and international patent applications for clients of all sizes.
