Evaluation of Inventions for Patenting and Preparation of Invention Disclosures Post-Alice

Bradley Knepper and Benjamin Lieb co-authored an article – the first in a series of six – that ran in the December 26, 2014 issue of InsideCounsel about the impact of the Supreme Court decision in Alice v. CLS Bank on the process of deciding whether to pursue patent protection for computer implemented inventions

The decision in Alice has caused many to question the viability of patents for computer implemented inventions. The article offers practical advice for responding to the changing landscape as a result of Alice and other recent decisions addressing the scope of patent-eligible subject matter.
